Yes, as a society, we have taken steps to remove accountability, hidden behind the blanket of the story that an economic system (capitalism) also serves as a moral system. Each one of those steps to remove accountability could have been done differently, like each decision in a product roadmap could have been made differently, and each decision on how to use the tech by an individual could have been made differently. Each of those points is an interval where there is the opportunity to apply perception (which is, itself, a simulation) to the phenomenon or allow role-flavored mythology (I am an engineer, I must solve this tech problem to be valuable; I am a CEO, I must build investor value to be valuable; I am a [blank], I must post to Insta to be valuable) to drive. Anyway, I'm fascinated by the interweaving of these first-hand perception stories and the societal-tribal stories into an identity, the conflict when they don't match (mental health issues) and how the societal story-making could be an extension of the story-making role of human consciousness transforming highly filtered and curated biological data into a plan for deterministic action that provides the best chance for survival and spreading (with societal stories being further filtered/curated/dumbed down). But I am subject to the same prevailing mythologies, so this most likely amounts to no nobler end than writing and commenting on Medium. Fun, though.
